TRIBUTES TO SHIRLEY & POST #183 VETERANS:

Historically, Post #183 has been instrumental in getting the town's monuments established and also we have been vocal in making sure they are maintained. At Whiteley Park (some times known as Veteran's Park) there are the following monuments:

Picture of the monuments to our veterans at Whiteley Park.

The one in the foreground is a tribute to the citizens of Shirley who served in World War I

Center left is the monument for the citizens who served in the Korean War

Center middle is the monument to Shirley's World War II veterans

Center right is the monument to Shirley's Vietnam War veterans

Maybe someday a monument will be erected for those currently fighting World War "T" (T is for Terrorism).

The tall granite monument in the rear is the one we honor on Memorial Day. This monument lists the names of those who gave their life in defense of our country.
